  1. PIF4 are expressed in roots, stems, coleoptiles and leaves at the six-leaf stage. Transcript abundance increases overnight, peaks at dawn, and decreases during the day.Transcription is rapidly induced by far-red light and repressed by red light. PIF4 physically interacts with the REPRESSOR OF GA1-3 in vitro and in vivo. Over-expression in Arabidopsis results in constitutive shade avoidance.
