Source Description
UniProtTranscription activator of genes involved in biosynthesis of secondary walls. Together with NST2 and NST3, required for the secondary cell wall thickening of sclerenchymatous fibers, secondary xylem (tracheary elements), and of the anther endocethium, which is necessary for anther dehiscence.   1. The gene is expressed in bundle sheath, xylem, and tracheary elements; not in companion cells, sieve tubes, or parencchymatous cells. The protein is localized in the nucleus. Abnormal deposition of secondary walls in vascular bundles were seen in trransgenic plants overexpressing the gene.
