UniProtTranscriptional activator that positively regulates age-dependent senescence, dark-induced leaf senescence and stress-induced senescence. Regulates leaf senescence through the modulation of the expression of senescence-associated genes SGR1/NYE1, SAG113 and SAUR36/SAG201, which are involved in chlorophyll degradation, and abscisic acid (ABA) and auxin promotion of senescence, respectively. Promotes reactive oxygen species (ROS) production during age-dependent and stress-induced senescence. Regulates positively auxin-mediated responses in roots (PubMed:27388337). Stress-responsive NAC transcription factor involved in ABA-inducible leaf senescence signaling (PubMed:26518251).
