The tetraploid cultivated wheat (T.durum) and the hexaploid wheat (T.aestivum) carry a one bp insertion generating a non-functional allele of this gene. They have a delayed senescence and a lower grain protein, zinc and iron content (PubMed:17124321). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17124321}. | |||||
