TAIRIn a tandem repeat with AT2g30432 (TCL1) and AT2g30420 (ETC2)
UniProtMYB-type transcription factor involved in trichome cell specification. Acts as a negative regulator of trichome patterning and formation. May function by suppressing the expression of GL3. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:22168948}.

  1. TCL2 function redundantly with TCL1 in controlling trichome formation on inflorescences, but they are not fully functional equivalent. Transcription of TCL2 is controlled by miR156-activated transcription factors.

  2. We independently identified CPC-LIKE MYB4 (CPL4), which was found to be identical to TCL2. RT-PCR analysis showed that CPL4 is strongly expressed in shoots, including true leaves, but not in roots.
