Source Description
TAIROverexpression confers hypersensitivity to low phosphate-elicited inhibition of primary root growth.
UniProtTranscription factor involved in nitrate and phosphate signaling in roots. Integrates nitrate and phosphate starvation responses and adaptation of root architecture depending on nutrient availabilities. Acts downstream of the nitrate sensor and transporter NPF6.3/NRT1.1. Represses primary root development in response to phosphate deficiency conditions, only when nitrate is present (PubMed:25723764). Involved in the modulation of primary root and root hair growth in phosphate-deprived environement (PubMed:19341407). May be required for suppressing abscisic acid (ABA) signaling in germinating embryo axis, which promotes the timely germination of seeds (PubMed:22545134). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:19341407, ECO:0000269|PubMed:22545134, ECO:0000269|PubMed:25723764}.

  1. HRS1 may be involved in the modulation of primary root and root hair growth in phopshate-deprived Arabidopsis seedlings.
    [PMID: 19341407]
  2. HRS1 knockout mutant (hrs1-1) exhibited significant germination delays on either normal medium or those supplemented with abscisic acid (ABA) or sodium chloride (NaCl), with the magnitude of the delay being substantially larger on the latter media.
    [PMID: 22545134]
  3. NO3- and P signalling converge via double transcriptional and post-transcriptional control of the same protein, HRS1.
    [PMID: 25723764]
  4. We propose that NIGT1/HRS1s are major regulators of N starvation responses that play an important role in optimizing N acquisition and utilization under fluctuating N conditions.
